Christmas Tree Mini Quilt Tutorial

This gorgeous mini quilt tutorial is from Alyce of Blossom Heart Quilts

This mini comes together very quickly, so quickly in fact, that it means we’ll have some spare time to spend carefully quilting it or making another! Now let’s get our mini quilt tops made!

You will need:

Mid green  6.5″ x 12.5″

C) 1 x 8.5″ square – draw a line diagonally across the middle on the wrong side of the fabric

K) 2 x 6.5″ x 8.5″

Instructions:

All seams are 1/4″ . Press seams as indicated.

Step 1. Place the grey A square right sides together on the left side of the light green rectangle, with the drawn line going from the bottom left corner to the top middle of the rectangle. Sew along the line and trim 1/4″ from the seam towards the outer corner. Press towards the grey. Repeat for the white A square and press towards the white.

Repeat for the mid-green with B squares, and dark green with C squares.

Step 2. Sew the following pieces into rows, pressing seams away from the flying geese units:

F + light green flying geese + I

F + mid-green flying geese + K

D + dark green flying geese + K

Sew these rows together.

Step 3. Sew the following pieces into rows, pressing seams towards the grey:

G + J

E + H

Sew G+J to the top of the flying geese rows and press seam towards G+J. Sew E+H to the bottom of the flying geese rows and press seam towards E+H.

And you’re done!  Now you can either make another few to turn it into a nice table runner or baste, quilt and bind it as a cute little wall hanging.

If this project doesn’t tickle your fancy why not bake one of these instead:
